Privacy Policy

PickMyTrip is a trip-planning tool, not a booking site. We keep data collection deliberately small: no accounts, no passwords, and no payment information ever touch our systems.

Who we are

PickMyTrip (“we”, “us”) operates pickmytrip.app, a tool that ranks vacation options by total cost and lets you build a shareable itinerary. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

What we collect

Information you provide

  • Search criteria — origin airport, dates, number of travelers, budget, and the vibes/activity level you pick. These run your search; the criteria are also encoded in the page URL so a link reproduces your search.
  • Trips and itineraries — when you build a trip, we store its contents (destination, dates, itinerary items, votes) so the share link keeps working.
  • Email address — only if you opt in to price-drop alerts for a saved search.

Information collected automatically

  • A first-party pmt_sid cookie — a random identifier (roughly 180 days) used to attribute affiliate referrals.
  • Basic booking-click logs — which partner link you clicked, the timestamp, and the attribution ID and/or your trip’s share token. We use these to measure which recommendations are useful.

We do not collect or store payment card details, government IDs, or account passwords — bookings happen on our partners’ own sites, not here.

Cookies

We use a single first-party functional cookie (pmt_sid) for affiliate attribution. We do not currently run third-party advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or web-analytics scripts. If that changes, we will update this policy and provide any required consent controls.

How we use your information

  • To run your search and price options in real time.
  • To create, display, and live-sync the itineraries you build and share.
  • To attribute affiliate referrals so partners can credit any commission.
  • To send price-drop emails, only if you asked for them.
  • To keep the service secure and working, and to understand what’s useful.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data with:

  • Infrastructure providers — Supabase (database and realtime sync) and Vercel (hosting and content delivery), which process data on our behalf; Resend, only if you enable email alerts.
  • Travel-data providers — Travelpayouts/Aviasales, Xotelo, scrape.do, and SerpAPI. We send them route and date parameters to fetch prices — not your name, email, or cookie.
  • Affiliate partners — when you click a “Book” link (for example a hotel, flight, or tour partner), you leave our site for theirs with an attribution ID appended. What they collect on their site is governed by their privacy policy.

We may also disclose information if required by law.

Shared trips are link-accessible

Itineraries are collaborative by design: anyone with the share link can view, edit, and vote — there is no login. Treat a trip link like a shared document, and don’t put sensitive personal information into itinerary items.

Data retention

Trips and itineraries are kept so your share link continues to work. Cached prices are short-lived (hours). You can ask us to delete a trip or your alert email at any time (see Contact).

Your choices and rights

You can browse without providing an email. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of information associated with you or a trip by contacting us. Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights; we honor valid requests and do not discriminate against you for exercising them.

Children

PickMyTrip is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and we do not knowingly collect their information.

International users

We operate from the United States and process data there. By using the service you understand your information may be processed in the U.S.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide clearer notice.
